Project description
This report has been prepared for 4800 Yonge Limited (Client) to develop an Alternative Solution to the OBC high- rise requirement to provide 2 h fire separated vestibules between one elevator shaft, which serves above-grade and below-grade levels, and the remainder of the floor area on Levels P3 through to Pl of the proposed building at 4800 Yonge Street in Toronto, Ontario. Specifically, it is proposed to provide 2 h fire separated vestibules to serve the elevator shaft on the above-grade levels, Levels 1 through 7, in lieu of providing 2 h fire separated vestibules on the below-grade levels, Level P3 through to Pl, as an alternative to complying with below-grade elevator protection. Further, it is proposed for the vestibules serving the elevator to have doors that swing inward (i.e. against the direction of exit travel). The elevator shaft below-grade opens into mechanical rooms on Levels P3 to Pl where spatial constraints prevent the construction of an elevator vestibule within these rooms.
